Hillandale Citizens Association Membership

As we enter another year of activity, the HCA Executive Committee would like to take a moment to thank all of you who have supported our community by becoming a member of the Hillandale Citizens Association. Your membership dues support our advocacy and community-building activities.

Over the past year, the Executive Committee has advocated for additional funding for the Hillandale Local Park and for traffic improvements in and around the community, including circulation of a survey to residents in Hillandale Forest to address existing and anticipated traffic concerns; HCA submitted testimony in regard to short-term residential rentals (Air B&B) legislation under review by the county, and continued to monitor and stress the needs of the community for improved and smart development to enhance the dining and retail opportunities in and surrounding Hillandale.

Our community meetings have included speakers from Park & Planning, the Montgomery County Police Department’s Third District Commander, our District 20 State Senator and Delegates, and we hosted a School Board Candidate forum with 11 candidates in attendance. We were also very proud to present a letter of support and inclusion to our local Church of our Saviour following a horrific act of discrimination. The letter stressed that all neighbors are welcome in the Hillandale Community without fear of discrimination or bigotry due to race, color, creed or country of origin.

HCA also hosted events including the much-loved Holiday Party and National Night Out celebration. We also issued an updated Community Directory for the first time in many years.

We anticipate a budget shortfall for the coming year. It is only through your membership dues that we can maintain the vigorous activities we have enjoyed over the past year. Please plan to become a member of HCA—and encourage your neighbors to do so as well—to continue these efforts of advocacy and community-building, which are hallmarks of our wonderful community!

Paying your Membership Dues provides your household full voting rights in the Association along with covering all the costs of civic and social activities of the Association. Membership is limited to residents of the area covered by the Hillandale Citizens Association. Dues are only $20 per year per household.
